3rd Blog a Charm?
I started blogging in November and I am on my third blog site. I liked Wordpress but was frustrated that I couldn’t post Ning badges there. After Sue Waters on Twitter assured me that I could put them on an Edublogs page I decided that when I had time I’d switch over. Well with a 5 day weekend here I decided I could make the time to do it. It was easy to export my old blog and import it to Edublogs. I hit a few glitches but all I had to do was post a question on the forum and the questions were answered quickly. I kept the same theme and blogroll. I did clean up the pages and thought back to the reason I left Blogger was because I wanted different pages but once I had them I really didn’t use them. I had envisioned a blog as a place to share ideas with other elementary tech teachers. I have since decided a blog wasn’t the best format for that idea. Instead I set up a Ning for sharing ideas and I am pleased with the way that is turning out. There are over 40 members with a variety of discussions taking place and we have a wiki set up by Amber for sharing lessons. So now, I’ll keep the blog for my ramblings. My next project is try and think about where do I have my blog address listed and go back and get it changed. Hopefully, I’ll be staying put in one place for awhile longer this time!

And can you import your ClustrMap? I am trying so hard to be the first dot on your new map! I am sure that is not a mature approach to blogging–is it the 2.0 version of bringing a plant to a house warming? Good luck in your new digs, Nedra!
Did the suggestion for the code, that I left in the Edublogs forum, work at all to remove the spaces from the Ning badges? Anyway welcome to Edublogs and glad I add the dot on the map for Western Australia!
@Jan I have to admit I didn’t really try to import my ClustrMap. I figured since it was a different address it wouldn’t work. I also have to admit I was excited to open my page and see the 5 red dots this morning! According to my Stat Counter the first visitor was from Amherst, MA, about 3 yesterday. I think putting in the first comment is a great house warming present. Thanks for stopping by.
I hope your 3rd blog is the charm for you. I’m on my second right now and am hoping it’ll do the trick.
This is a little off topic, but I just had to tell you how beautiful your photos are. Did you use a macro lens? Thanks for sharing them.
Kimberly, I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. I love taking them. These were taken with a macro lens. I just bought it last weekend so it’s just like a new toy! I love playing with it.
Hi!
It is interesting how 2.0 tools evolve. At one point blogs were the next great way to interact and communicate but with the evolution of tools, Ning and wikis for example, blogs can seem stodgy in comparison. Not that I’m ready to do away with them (still way to many opportunities with blogs), but it is interesting how our view and use of them changes so quickly.
It is is interesting to see how the tools change over time. It’s also interesting to look back at my emails and see how many tools I’ve signed up to use and have never been back to check them out after signing up!
Thanks for stopping by.
