NECC Goals

I joined the Newbie group over at the NECC Ning. One of the questions is; What are your goals for NECC? I jotted down a couple of items and since then have been giving it more thought. Now I realize this is a really important question. I was just going for the experience but if I go with some specific goals in mind and use those goals as I fill up my planner and begin conversations it’s going to make the trip more meaningful.

So here are my goals so far and they of course are subject to change.

  1. I’m hoping to connect with other elementary tech teachers.
  2. I’m looking for new meaningful projects to try in the lab.
  3. I’m looking for some strategies to try and get teachers to try some web 2.0 tools and using tech more in general.
  4. Since I just won a grant for a Smartboard I’ll be looking for ways to use the board in a truly interactive way for teacher and student.
  5. I’m buying my first ipod this weekend. I’m calling it a school related expense. I want to learn how they work and while at NECC I’m hoping to learn about ways teachers are using them in the elementary classroom. I’m thinking that might be my next grant writing project.
  6. I’m just learning about Podcast. I want to learn more about how people are using them in a lab and classroom setting. I’ve gotten some good ideas from the Elementary Tech Teacher Ning and I hope to be able to add more ideas there.

Well, I’m sure that’s more than enough goals!

    Hi John, I’ve been debating where to do my blogging about NECC. Should I do it here, on the NECC Ning or my ning? I’ve finally decided to post here and possibly copy to the blog on my ning.

    I’m having a hard time sleeping because of the excitement and the list of things I need to get done before I go keeps running through my head interfering with sleep! My husband is picking me up in Texas and we’re vacationing on the way home so lots of things to get in order before I leave.

    My goals are as follows:

    Meets some of the people I’ve connected with online.
    Find new ways to use tech with students.
    Find new ways to get teachers to collaborate using 2.0 tools
    Have fun.
    Don’t get overwhelmed

    I use my iPod in my kindergarten classroom all the time.Did you get a microphone? I have that so we can record digital audio. I look forward to meeting you a NECC and exchanging ideas.
